How Khabarnama works
Collection. Khabarnama checks publishers’ public RSS feeds every 15 minutes. If a feed omits its thumbnail, the crawler reads only the linked article’s public image metadata. We retain the headline, article link, publication time, publisher image URL and a short feed excerpt—never the full article.
One story, one card. Exact links are normalised to remove tracking parameters. Closely matching headlines published within the same news cycle are grouped, and the freshest complete item becomes the primary card. When several distinct publishers cover a leading event, alternate links appear only inside a collapsed “More coverage” panel.
Source summaries. The short text beneath a headline comes from the publisher’s own feed and is capped at 50 words. It is labelled “Source summary” so readers can distinguish it from Khabarnama’s interface copy. Every card names and links to the original publisher.
Local and overseas editions. The Local edition excludes world and overseas-interest reporting, with optional Karachi, Lahore and Islamabad filters. The Overseas edition uses transparent topic matching for diaspora, immigration, consular, remittance and destination-country relevance. These filters affect discovery, not a publisher’s original classification.
Style & Culture. Original guides carry a Khabarnama Style Desk byline and review date. Publisher stories remain outbound links with their feed excerpts. Weekend Reads receives an original “Why it’s worth your time” note only after an editor reviews the article.
Global Watch. This early-signal shelf monitors selected international reporting and primary NASA and USGS feeds. Inclusion means “worth watching,” not independent confirmation by Khabarnama; every item remains attributed and links to its source.
Reader control. Saved stories and followed publishers are stored locally on the reader’s device. Khabarnama does not require an account to personalise these views.
